Hi Frans,

Sorry for the delay; normally I am notified when comments are posted, but I didn't get this one. To answer your questions, Sybase engineering tracks updates to the platforms, to ensure that HWC can support the latest and greatest features. As much as possible, the same features are supported across all platforms. The exact capabilities supported for each platform are in the documentation and the JavaScript, so a developer can easily see if a feature is available for use from within the HWC designer.

Using the Submit Workflow feature, you could have field technicians fill out a form offline, and auto-sync when online. Hybrid web container is easier to manage than native clients, especially in an environment where you have to support multiple device types.

Nice and clear overview of the online+ capabilities. Two questions remain, however:

1. How can Sybase keep HWCs on all platforms/OSs up-to-date and act equally?

2. Each platform/OS has its own capabilities. How do you know on forehand (design time) which devices have what capabilities? E.g. when we want to use NFC which is not common to all platforms.

We faced exactly these challenges five years ago with our 'HTML5 avant-la-lettre' solution.

Thanks Loren for the blog. We are creating CRM Service App using hybrid container application (utilizing SUP 2.1, supStorage API and html5) - do you think it would be able to perform as expected in offline mode (field technicians able to store data on device and auto-sync when it comes online?) or in your opinion we should drop off this idea and do a native instead?

Thanks,
Rohit

Hi Kiril,
All of our mobile applications are designed to work online or offline - so you don't need a live connection to access your data. Data is stored and secured locally on the mobile device.

Dear Willie,

Very good article. Finally SAP is moving into the right direction.
Do you have also mobile solutions, which work off-line (incase 3G is not good)?
Regards,
Kiril
