New iPhone Support in Afaria and SQL Anywhere!

We are pleased to make some big announcements in the iPhone world today. The first is the announcement of Afaria for iPhone! Afaria now provides device management and policy enforcement for iPhone.

In the same press release, we announced SQL Anywhere for iPhone – SQL Anywhere now brings a proven, scalable way to extend information in enterprise relational databases to applications running on iPhone.

Sybase offers the following new capabilities in its Afaria and SQL Anywhere products:

Device Management

Over-the-air provisioning and certificate-based policy enforcement

Enforceable administrative policy lockdown control (i.e., passcode, WiFi, VPN/APN, IMAP/POP email settings, and application usage/installation restrictions)

Accurate compliance reporting

Device authentication to a corporate directory

Database and Enterprise Synchronization

Bi-directional synchronization between iPhone and Sybase ASE, SQL Anywhere, Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and MySQL databases proven to scale from 1 user to 100,000s of users

Enterprise-caliber data management and synchronization technologies designed to operate in heterogeneous environments without regular on-site IT maintenance
