This was a really great event with lots of local participation. Hopefully, this will be repeated in other in locations. I know John Chen stated Beijing, China in his keynote, so there is one. Wondering where the others will be.

If you were not able to attend, let us know where you think this should be in held next!

I held a security session in the business track with Don Howe. We covered general threats and how you can use Sybase technology in thwarting most cases. It was a pretty good set of examples on both sides of the security threats, those hacked, and those that dealt with the risk before it happened.

The other sessions I attended were packed, so i typically stood, rather than taking a seat from someone who paid to be there. The Data Management track had at least 100 people in attendance, while the Development track has over 50 and most with laptops doing hands-on labs. Is it just me, or do developers just think differently than DBAs?

thank you to everyone who attended, and we look forward to the next location! hope to see you there.

I was out at a client site last week doing a Proof Of Concept with ASE Cluster Edition on Linux (it went well, by the way!), and some interesting architecture questions came up in regards to workload management, client routing within the cluster, and connection failover.

In this customer’s case, they were using multiple application server(s) … with common login ID’s … to access the cluster. This presented a bit of a challenge as one of the main ways that we route clients within the cluster is based on login ID, application name, or server name. What do you do if all are of these are effectively the same?
